A los chicos, Luca 10 y Leo 5 los disfrutamos un montò!, los buscábamos del colegio, íbamos al parque o a la casita, Addy venia a cenar y se los llevaba de vuelta a su casa.
La casita, cottage, hermosa y super antigua! Había sido usada, en sus épocas, como lugar donde fabricaban telas a mano. Toda la zona, aprovechando arroyos y canales, era industrial de lanas y telas. Los edificios grandes que se ven a orillas de los mismos, es parte de esa época! Mucha historia en este paìs!!
We had a great time with the boys!, Luca 10, Leo 5! We picked them up from school, if weather permitted we went to a local playground or to a park! Or, we just stayed in the cottage.
Addy came after work for dinner and to take the kids home.
The cottage we rented was built in the late 18th century around the weaving industry area; it was used as a weaving room. It is very pretty and old!
Lots of the old building along side of the canal are from that era, most related to the weaving industry.
Nos hospedamos en Golcar, Huddersfield. Donde disfrutamos de muchas caminatas a lo largo de uno de los tantos canales hechos por el hombre en la época que se usaban barcazas como medio de transporte.
La red de canales, que todavía se puede transitar, abarca unas 2000 miles - 3218 km. Es fascinante ver las compuertas y sus distintos niveles. Denis ayudo a un flaco a abrir una mientras se charlaban todo!!
Fuimos a ver el canal-túnel màs largo, màs profundo, construido màs alto a nivel del mar en toda Inglaterra; del año 1811, de 5.2 km. Como se tarda mucho en cruzar por la velocidad en que viajan los botes solo pueden pasar tres en una dirección y tres en la otra.
Como turismo te llevan un km adentro y se vuelve. Muy interesante!
England! We stayed in Golcar, Huddersfield, an area that we haven’t been before. It is surrounded by creeks and canals for narrow boats, made by humans as a way of moving, transporting materials.
The net of canals throughout England covers around 2000 miles/3218 km; we had one at a short distance from home so we walked it to the left and then to the right many times!! Very interesting, lost of history and a nice lifestyle if you like “boating”!!
Did a tour in the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel ever build in the UK!, built in 1794. Impressive! Is still in use, it only can navigate 3 boats one way and 3 the other way due to the long time it takes to go through the 5.2 km.

Nos tocaron unos dìas hermosos!, lluvia en algún momento pero prácticamente todos los dìas pudimos salir afuera con algo de sol!!
Caminatas en ratos soleados! La belleza de este país bajo los rayos de sol!, todo brilla y se luce en su mejor de los esplendores!
The weather was very kind to us! No to cold and lots of sunny days, at least in the morning or afternoons!
Hikes on sunny days! England at its best! Everything shines and shows it best under the gorgeous sun light!
Fuimos a caminar con toda la familia!, a un cerro donde se estrello un avión militar norteamericano B-29 en 1943, sin sobrevivientes. Los dos chicos se caminaron todo!, los 6 km!, entre cerros, con terreno desparejo, agua y barro!! Todos super disfrutamos del dìa!
On a Saturday we all went for a hike! We went to see a wreckage of a military airplane that crash onto the mountains on bad weather in 1943; a north American B-29, its debris are still all scattered around the hill… very sad.
The kids enjoyed and did very well on such long hike among the muddy and wet hills!, creek crossings and very cold… thou, a great day out!
Denis venia jorobando con el juego de “Mira, què tenes aca?” Apuntando con el dedo en el pecho de la persona… Luca le dijo que el no iba a caer en el truco…, entonces Denis le hizo toda una historia, cuando Luca estuvo tan concentrado, le hizo “Mira, què tenes aca?… ha! Ha! Ha! Luca cayo como un chorlito!!

The game where you place your finger in the chest of the other person and say “look! What do you have here?”; as the person looks down, you ran your finger to his face… Well,…!! Luca dared Denis that he was not going to fall for it… ha! Ha!, he fell big time! He was so concentrated on Denis story that when the time came…, he looked!! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Vuelta en Rippendon, un paseo por otro canal, con Addy y los chicos. Y de despedida, Luca y Leo nos mostraron The Piece Hall, en Halifax. Un edificio construido para el negocio de venta y compra de telas fabricadas a mano, en el siglo 18. Su nombre viene de la venta de las telas en pedazos (piece). Una belleza de arquitectura! Hoy en día los locales están usados para restoranes, negocios de arte, negocios de cosistas!

On our last days in town…, another beautiful hike on the shores of a canal in Halifax with Addy and the kids!
Luca and Leo took us on a tour around The Piece Hall, in Halifax. Quite interesting plaza, a square building dating from 1779! Small rooms throughout the whole building purposely built as a Cloth Hall for the trading of ‘pieces’ of cloth. Now days restaurants, shops and art galleries are making good use of the space! Gorgeous architecture!
