Una temporada de invierno exageradamente bañada de sol!!

Por fin nos toco una visita a Inglaterra con unos dias soleados soñados! Fríos, pero soleados!! Còmo disfrutamos!!

Cada invierno que hemos visitado a Addy y su familia, en Inglaterra, nos han tocado puro días de lluvia; que es normal. Uno hace igual a un lado el mal tiempo y lo pasa bien pero se hacen menos paseos.

Este año visitamos varios parques y diques aprovechando el buen tiempo!

An English winter bathed by gorgeous sunny days!!

For once we have had such a wonderful weather!, cold days but no rain!

Every year we had come before, the weather has been horrible, rainy normal winters; specially 2015… it rained so so much!

We enjoyed, managed to do things but nothing like this trip! It has been so nice!

The good weather gave us the chance to do many outdoor things that we all love!

El primero de enero, sin ningún plan de festejo en familia y Chris enfermo; Addy y los chicos se vinieron a casa. Después de almorzar nos fuimos a dar la vuelta a un dique acà cerquita, Baitings Dam; mucho frio, sobre todo cuando nos tocaba caminar las areas màs expuestas al viento… pero hermoso! Las colinas resaltando en verdor a la luz del sol!

Vuelta en casa el infaltable chocolate caliente para quitarnos el frio; un par de manos de un juego de mesa y pronto nos llego la hora de “cada uno a su casa”!

On the 1srt of January, with no plans of family gathering; Addy and the boys came home; Chris got a cold so didn’t come, he was hill for the rest of the week…

After lunch we went for a short walk around a dam close by home, Baitings Dam. Small but pretty, with a very impressive overflow down to the valley! Gorgeous views!, very cold when the wind caught up with us… but happy to be outside!

Back at home for a well deserved hot chocolate with mini marshmallows!! And a game of Tap 4!

Otro heladòn de aquellos… el despertar de la mañana bajo un sol que ni calienta pero hace relucir los alrededores como nunca!! La vista hacia Rochdale y mucho màs allà, Manchester!

Hielo en las calles y ya empezando a congelar todo! La foto es Rippendon que es el pueblito donde esta la escuela primaria donde van los nietos; donde viven los abuelos paternos; a unos 5 minutos, del otro lado del cañadòn, màs allà, arriba en la cuesta, viven ellos.

Teniamos programa con Luca y Leo solos porque era dia sandwich de trabajo. Luca quería ir al museo de los medios de comunicación en la ciencia que previamente visitamos con Leo, asì que allà fuimos! Un recorrido rapidito…, explorando los puntos de màs interés! Y afuera nos fuimos!

Visitamos una iglesia viejísima, con una estructura hermosa del 1600! Impresionante el cielorraso de vigas de madera; el tamaño de las piedras usadas para su construcción; los ventanales con los vidrios contando la historia del lugar y de la iglesia. Muy interesante!

La parte del altar es una extensión construida en 1960. La tapa de madera de la Fuente de bautismo, durante la guerra de los 40 los locales la escondieron en un lugar secreta porque… dicen… Hitler quería destruir todas (o muchas…) de las iglesias…; leyendas o realidades pero la escultura de madera es una belleza!

Las ventanas de vidrios con coloridos dibujos cuentan la historia del lugar y de la iglesia en sì, muy interesante.

Waked up to a brilliant sunny day after a huge overnight frost! First photo is from home towards Rochdale, and Manchester in the far distance!, is that clear that we can see that far!!

Second photo is driving towards Addy’s just before crossing Rippendon; today we taking Luca and Leo to the Media Science Museum as a request from Luca, he didn’t come the other day and he wanted to check out the amazing effects and interesting facts displayed in it!

We, also, visited the Bradford Cathedral in town, very old and interesting place from the 1600; a showcase of architecture done by hand!; man power-no machines… beautiful!

Apparently, the wooden font caver survived the war as the locals took it away from the church and hide it so Hitler couldn’t destroy it. Glad, because is such a gorgeous piece of art!

The led windows are pretty cool too, telling the story of the place and people involve with it.

We all had a nice visit to it!

Llega el fin de semana, Chris sigue enfermo…, el resto, nos juntamos en casa planeando una buena caminata en un parque para ver un viaducto y una catarata.

Dia soleado y congelado!! Hay que moverse rapidito porque a las 15.50 hs queremos ir al cerro alto cerquita de casa a ver salir la super luna de lobo!

Seguimos un sendero contra un arroyo, cuanto charco congelado los chicos tienen que saltar y ver si se patinan!! Los adultos, bah!, todos!, andamos con cuidado porque hay mucha superficie congelada…; todo lo que tenia un poco de humedad en los últimos días se ha ido congelando al punto de parecer piedra!! Era un día de menos 5 grados!!

El viaducto, impotente con sus patas largas!, belleza de arquitectura también!, de la época que las cosas se construían a mano! Del 1800 uniendo el terreno sobre un cañadòn profundo!

Chorritos de agua o goteras por donde sea formaban hermosas figuras de estalactitas de hielo!, siempre una buena oportunidad de fotografía! Encima!, en la familia, salvo Leo a cual màs fotógrafo! Luca està aprendiendo, ya con algunas tomas muy interesantes!

Logramos llegar al cerro para nuestra tan ansiosa esperada de la vista de la super luna!!

Los chicos aprovechando la espera jugaron un rato en los charcos congelados! Pero pronto el frio corrió a algunos a meterse en el auto buscando calorcito hasta que apareciera la luna!

Yo decidi estirar las piernas y para matar el frio hice un trotesito/caminata ligera siguiendo un camino cerro adentro, enseguida lo tenia a Leo saltando, corriendo, al lado mio!; divirtièndose llendo de charco en charco!, fascinado caminando sobre hielo! Y ahi llego la tan esperada luna!! Hermosa, redondìsima, enormemente rosada! Belleza de espectáculo!, una vista super pintoresca!!

Como toda la zona son cerros!, al volver a casa me volvì caminando por la entrada hasta la curva y volvì a ver salir la luna!! Soy una enamorada de la luna desde que tengo uso de razòn!!

Denis y Leo probaron el robot que armò Denis, se lo regalaron a Leo para navidad…. Algo complicado para un chico de 7 años…, inclusive Denis, màs de una vez se rascò la cabeza para descifrar còmo armarlo…

The weekend comes; Chris still not feeling good. The rest of us had lunch at home and went on a hike to see a viaduct built in the 1800 over a gorge/creek, and a waterfall; we needed to speed up as we had planned to go to the tall hill close to home to see the Wolf Super Moon arising on this gorgeous sunny day!

The cold weather help us just a little to hurry but no much!, the kids wanted to slide in each little piece of ice!; the adults needed to be careful no to slide and fall! Plus we all stopped many time to appreciate this beautiful corner!

As one turns a corner the viaduct shows up; tall and impressive! As we get closer we can admired its construction of many moons back! Impressive!

Every drop or small running water has been stopped in place over the last few days!, almost everything is frozen! Perfect opportunity for picture taking! The creek runs thou!

As the sun started to fade we decided to turn around and hurry to the hill for our chance to see the full moon rise on an English winter day!! Ha! Ha! Incredible!!

We get to our chosen place with spear few minutes; the boys take another chance to jump and play on the frozen puddles!, but gets to cold so some took shelter in the car; I decided to walk/do a very soft trot down the road heading into the hills, hoping for a good moon’s photo opportunity; next minute I have company!! Leo joins me!, jumping, running, walking on iced!, full of energy!

Soon the moon shows up and we are all happy dancing and taking photos; as sooner we are done, Leo and I go back to the others! Was such a magic experience!, the gorgeous round full moon!; pinky and strong rising on a clear English sky!!

When we get back home, I raced to the corner of the entrance road for another chance to see the moon raise!!, surrounded by so many hill there are more chance to see it coming up! It didn’t disappointed me at all!!

Denis and Leo took the chance to test the robot that Denis built; it was given to Leo for Christmas but to hard for him to put it together…., even hard for Denis… they both had fun over 2 days until it got going!!

Después de un dìa tan intenso como el de ayer, el domingo arrancamos todos màs tranquilos…

Con Denis aprovechamos la mañana soleada y recorrimos uno de los senderos, hacia el pueblo, que no habíamos hecho todavía. Mejor dicho!, bajamos hacia el lago por uno ya recorrido, de ahi fuimos hacia Littleborough en vez del lago; pasando por el canal ya medio, bastante!, congelado; se ve que chicos han tirado rocas tratando de romperlo sin mucho éxito! Para volver, tomamos una calle del pueblo, subimos por un sendero que no habíamos usado, pasando al lado de una casa del 1600! Ese dia no sacamos foto.

Todo el trayectorio el terreno haciendo ruido de cuando uno pisa escarcha o tierra congelada!

A la tarde que vino Addy con los chicos, los llevamos a ver el espectáculo del canal congelado! Llegamos con sol y nos corrio un chaparrón de nieve!! Suerte esta vez tenìamos los autos estacionados a una cuadras!

Super divertidos caminamos unos cuantos metros, mirando las compuertas, todo lo congelado!, los chicos y el grande!!…, tirando piedras para tratar de romper el hielo! En un rincón Denis alcanzo a sacar un pedazo de hielo y lo tirò sobre lo congelado para que se rompiera en mil pedacitos formando unas figuras divertidas sobre la superficie!! Nos super divertimos! Belleza de lugar!

After such busy day yesterday, on sunday we all took it a bit easier…, well!, Denis and I decided to go for a morning walk as it was another pretty day!

We wanted to hike some of the paths in our proximity that we haven’t been yet. Went down to the lake but turn towards town, Littleborough; check the canal, already frozen!; back to some of the streets to meet the path we wanted to hike, straight up to home; passing by a house from the 1600… thou we couldn’t decide witch one it was.

Most of the way the sound of crashing frozen terrain!, follows us as we walk!, very carful no to fall!

Addy and the boys came in the afternoon, meeting us close to the canal as we wanted to show them the frozen waters! Arriving with lots of sunshine to be chase away by snow!! So funny!!

The boys enjoyed the experience of playing with ice trying to break the surface but conquering nothing!!

We had a lovely walk exploring, along the canal until the weather started to close in onto us; they kept playing throwing rocks into the ice but didn’t break… Then, Denis decided to get a piece of ice and do skipping! Well!, that was a lot of fun!, boys had to have a go too! Very cool forms came up from it! Very pretty place!

Por supuesto que, al dìa siguen amanecimos con un manto blanco todo alrededor nuestro! Con un solazo espectacular! Esta zona no puede ser màs hermosa!!

Con los chicos empezando el colegio y Addy y Chris sus trabajos; nosotros nos tomamos el dìa para ir a Liverpool que nunca estuvimos!

Next day we wake up to a blanket of snow all around us, the views are gorgeous!, under a blue, shinny, sunny day! Amazing!!

Querìamos ir al museo de Liverpool para ver un poco la historia de Los Beatles pero estaba cerrado asi que, caminamos alrededor del embarcadero en el centro, admirando tanto los edificios viejos como los modernos! Han entremezclado unos y los otros en una linda forma!, el contraste entre los mismos es muy llamativo!, sobre todo bajo un cielo màs azul imposible! Que dìa espectacular de temperatura!, helado pero solazo!!!

Volvimos a una sección que es dedicada a Los Beatles y músicos de todo el mundo; no entramos al museo de ellos (muy caro…) pero leímos placas en las calles; las paredes en un par de cuadres, cada ladrillo tiene nombre de mùsicos! Entramos al pub donde Los Beatles arrancaron su carrera!, tocando mùsica como por 5 años antes de hacerse famosos!

Hay nombres y memorabilia de muchos otros músicos también! Todo muy interesante y muy bien conservado!!

We go to Liverpool as everyone is back to their routine, back to school and work.

We had planned to visit the Liverpool museum but, to our surprise, was closed so we spent the day walking around the main dock and down town. Enjoying the blue skies and the very wick sun due to the very cold day…

Very interesting to see the contrast between the old and new buildings!, heavy, big stones agains glassed walls; very pretty too!

Walked around the blocks where there is a lot of The Beatles history!, and many other musicians; very interesting! On a couple of blocks the bricks on the walls have musicians and people related to the music industry, their names written on them, very impressive!

Stopped by the pub where The Beatles started to play on their teens!; many other people has played there too! E.g. Adele!

Ahora sì se nos acabò el buen tiempo por unos dìas, se viene la nevada…

Ya amanecimos con 2 cm de nieve, sigue un rato a la mañana. Por la tarde, con una ventanita de buen tiempo!!!, nos fuimos a caminar en busca de la casa de hace màs de 100 años… Nos cruzamos con una señora, charlamos unos minutos preguntàndole sobre esa casa… ja! Ja! Nos señala y comenta que su casa de campo atràs nuestro, es de 1660!! No le sacamos fotos, pero a esta otra hermosura, con esas piedras del año de Maria Castaña!, el techo de piedra/laja cortada en rectángulo y de un grosor de 2 cm. Belleza total! (La construcción clarita es moderna)

Ella nos comento que su casa, la de la foto, màs otra màs cerca del canal son todas del 1600! Nos pegamos una vuelta larga pasando por al lado del lago casi totalmente congelado! Que fresquete!!! -5  -9

Nos dan màs mal tiempo y decidimos no buscar los chicos, dos dias sin verlos…

Siguen los dìas feos, no salimos a caminar; vuelta a juntar los chicos en el colegio! Todo blanco pero màs tipo hielo que nieve.

En realidad lo buscamos a Leo, Luca vino pocas veces pero un dìa se vino y volviò en colectivo!!, y caminando desde el pueblito!, de noche porque oscurece temprano! El niño està aprendiendo a estirar sus alas!, fascinado!

Con Leo uno no se aburre! Si no se paseo a mil por todo el living mientras expresa toda su imaginación en juegos y pelìculas!, pide de cocinar algo!, desde el sandwich tostado de panceta, huevo frito y queso hasta hacer sus primeros chocolates!

Es una maquina de hablar, no para!!

Luca màs reservado, calladito, explorando su independencia, muy interesado en juegos de mesa y charlar con Popa y Addy en las caminatas!

El tiempo no mejora, al tal punto que nos dieron alerta de nevada fuerte… El dueño de casa acomodò la propiedad para recibir 15 cm de nieve… hasta dejò acomodado el tractor con la barredora listos para abrir camino!… La dueña de casa guardò sus ovejitas en el galponsito; cubrió la comida con lonas… Pa què?… no pasò nada… si todo bien congelado pero nieve… nada!!

Well, weather has change to bad… they say… thou we wake up to only 2 cm of snow…, snowed very light most of the morning. In the afternoon, we get a window of calm, overcast day so we go for a walk, going straight from the house down into town trying to find this very old house. On the way, we met a lady and we asked her. She told us that her farm house it is from 1660!, the house we wanted to know is from the same era; also, she said there is another one down that road, cross the main, go down…. Ha! Ha! We didn’t go that way because we got lots just listening to her…

We had a long walk, was very nice and everything around white!, very pretty! And very cold! -5 -9

The weather man is talking of iced, black ice roads so we decided to sty put and not to pick the boys up… 2 days without seen them…

Next day again, very light snow, very cold, drizzly… we don’t go out, only to pick the boys up.

Truly, just Leo, Luca hardly comes after school. He adventured one day coming all the way here on the bus!! And walked all the way to the house!, here and back… in the dark… the young kid is stretching his winds!!

There is no time to get borde or rest with Leo!, he doesn’t stop talking or moving!, tells you about his imagining movies that he makes as he plays!, moving all the time! Also, very interesting on cooking, or at least to tell you what to make! Been his bacon, fry egg and cheese sandwich one of his favor!; another day he wanted to make chocolate so we did!

Luca is more reserve, quiet, exploring what he can do at his edge, catch the bus on his own, go and meet his friends to ride the bike or go into Halifax to the shops; very interest on playing card games and on our walks he tends to sty close to mummy and Popa to interact on their conversations! He is exploring the art of photography as well!

Now we get yellow alert for snow overnight…. The owner of the farm gets things ready…; move the tractor with the snow blower, ready to clear the roads; shuffled things around. The lady gets her sheep into the small shed, there are only a few; covers the fed; tidy things for the occasion.

Well… we waked up to nothing rather than freezing cold!…

Ya van quedando pocos dìas…, el viernes Addy se tomò el día libre y estuvimos en casa tranquilos, intercambiando fotos, recordando cosas de la vida Australiana!, muy tranquilos!

Una vez que buscamos los chicos; con un frio que las tirò!!, nos fuimos a ver un desagüe de un dique que el tìtulo en el mapa de google “me decía”!, desagote escalonado!!

Muy lindo!, caminamos con cuidado porque sigue todo muy congelado o nieve!!, pasamos por arriba de la compuerta con dirección al desagote. Ya nos corre la noche pero podemos apreciar el lugar y su particularidad de los escalones! Sin agua no se aprecia bien pero uno se imagina; esta muy bueno!

En la casa de la foto había un sistema de purificar el agua antes de ser mandada al pueblo, hoy en dìa deben usar otro sistema màs cerca del pueblo… bah!, digo yo… pero esa casa no se usa màs, es una casa privada!!

Esto està cerquita de un pueblo llamado Wadle a 20 minutos de casa…, je!, donde estábamos parando! Yo duermo una noche en un lugar! y ya “es casa”!!! Ja! Ja!

Our time here is getting to its end, just a couple more days and back to routine…

Addy took Friday and Monday off so she could be with us. We just stayed home, to cold and miserable outside, thou, after picking the boys up we went to check a Waterway Bridge in Wardle! The overflow of a small reservoir is made on a long steps run! Very interesting! No water but still! The house in the picture it used to be to purify the water for the town, now days is a private home.

The boys had a lot of fun playing in the frozen puddles!

Por fin Chris se mejoro y después de una semana de trabajo salimos todos juntos a hacer un paseo a otra represa! Un dìa soñado!!! Un cielo celeste inimaginable en Inglaterra, en invierno!! Que belleza!! Y asì el frio!! Ja! Ja!

Todo sigue nevado/helado/congelado!!, como se quiera llamar pero blanco y resbaloso!! Ja! Ja! La foto del pub en el cerro y la represa congelada es en la punta del cerro a 5 minutos de casa!, desde donde vimos la super luna!!

Hasta Chilli la perra de ellos vino! Dimos toda la vuelta al dique, que son un poco màs de 5 km pero con mil quinientas paradas!!! Si no era para tratar de patinar!, era para tocar y armar bolas de nieve! O!, sacar fotos!, o Chilli meterse al lago! Que dia hermoso pasamos!

Fuimos por el lado de la sombra volviendo por el solcito!!! Tan calmo que el lago tenia unos reflejos espectacularmente bellísimos! Tanta oportunidad para fotografiar; bah, màs que nada para admirar!, no podíamos dejar de comentar lo hermoso y diferente que estaba!!

Mejor despedida imposible! Nos divertimos y disfrutamos muchísimo!!

Weekend comes along, Chris feels better so we all, even Chill their dog!, we all go on a hike around another reservoir! Gorgeous blue skies!, very cold, not a drop of wind!, making the reflection in the like so bizarre and pretty!

Everything is frozen white!, not sure how to call it: snow, ice… but, as you walk it makes crashing ice noises!; the boys take every possible opportunity to slide and through hard snow balls to everyone, and getting them some from us as well!!

Picture perfect light!, beautiful! We all had a lot of fun and a great outing!!

We went on the shady side and came back on the sunny side around the lake!

Doming de despedida y de abuelos en lo de Addy y Chris con un almuerzo riquìsimo bajo las manos de chef Chris!! Pasamos un rato muy agradable con los padres de Chris y el resto de todos nosotros!

Y ya sì… ùltimo dìa con Addy todo el dìa! Hasta Inglaterra llora porque nos vamos: dìa lluvioso…, asi que en casa tranquilos; buscando los chicos al cole; chocolate caliente y juego de cartas hasta la hora de la cena que fuimos a un pub a comer!

Chau! Chau! Hasta el pròximo encuentro, acà, allà o dònde sea!!

Monday another lovely day with Addy alone before picking the boys up; getting back home for our favor hot chocolate and a play of cards!

Meeting Chris at the pub for dinner and goodbyes… Chau!, Chau! until our next time together.
